Baby Shower.
INT. TINA HOUSE:BEDROOM – NIGHT
It’s midnight. Tina and Anthony are
sleeping.
Tina is feeling restless finding it
hard to sleep. After some minutes of rolling in bed, she finally taps Anthony.
TINA
Tony, Tony.
Anthony wriggles.
ANTHONY
Yes?
TINA
I want to take ice-cream.
ANTHONY
(bewildered)
What! You want ice-cream— at this
hour— of the night? This is midnight.
TINA
(feeling so
restless)
I want ice-cream, and I want it now.
Tony watches her in confusion and
anger.
TINA
(holding
Tony)
Please Tony do something, I’m sure
we can still get somewhere, I want chocolate ice-cream.
ANTHONY
Where the hell do you want me to
get that this night? Tina if you don’t behave this night I will leave this
house for you.
He snatches herself from her and
sleeps back.
Tina starts crying like a baby, holding
him again. Anthony is pissed.
ANTHONY
(snarls)
Oh God! What the hell! Jeez!
Tina jumps. Anthony picks his phone
and strides out of the room. Tina sobs.
INT. THE MARTINS: BEDROOM – DAY
Vera walks in – all dressed up –
Winifred is sleeping in bed.
VERA
Hey, you’re not going? I’m set.
WINIFRED
(wriggles)
Oh no Vera, I’m tired.
VERA
Common, you promised her you’ll
come.
WINIFRED
I’m tired Vera, just let me sleep;
we will go later.
VERA
It’s a baby shower, there’s no
later. They are doing it now.
WINIFRED
(wriggling)
Alright you go then, I will join
you.
VERA
Okay, I’m taking your car, you can
come with mine.
WINIFRED
Fine bye!
Vera wants to go but stops again.
VERA
Err how about—
WINIFRED
(slaps the
bed)
Ohhh.
VERA
Sorry bye.
(she
leaves)
EXT. COMPOUND – CONTINUOUS - DAY
Vera walks towards the car and
presses the car remote.
REMOTE CAR SOUND
The gatekeeper opens the gate and
Vera drives out the gate.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
Vera’s car speeding down the road.
INT. TINA HOUSE – DAY
The house is filled with happy female
guests laughing and chatting. The room is filled with gifts.
Three women are heavily pregnant.
EXT. TINA HOUSE
Vera drives into the massive
compound.
INT. TINA HOUSE
Vera enters. The women all cheer
seeing her
LADY
Vera is here!
Tina starts to walk towards Vera to
hug her. Vera sees the heavily pregnant women.
VERA
(looking)
Please, whose baby shower are we
doing here?
They all laugh.
TINA
(walking to
her)
The tinnier one with big head.
They laugh and hug.
TINA
(eyes
searches)
Where’s Winnie?
VERA
(folds lips and shrugs)
She said she’s coming but you know
her.
TINA
(mood
changes)
Really?
Vera shrugs.
TINA
Have your seat, excuse me.
She goes to pick her phone and
starts to walk in.
LADIES
Where’s Winifred?
VERA
She will join us soon. So who’s
gonna help me with my gifts in the car?
LADIES
(cheers)
Common let’s do it.
Tina looks back at them as she
walks away.
TINA
Oh no, let Janet do that.
(calls)
Janet!
JANET(V.O)
Yes ma’am.
(hurries
in)
LADIES
Common Tina, we’ll do it, it’s fun.
They all stand and start towards
the door laughing and cheering before another word from Tina. Tina smiles at
them and walks in.
INT. TINA HOUSE:BEDROOM
Tina listens to her phone ring.
INT. THE MARTINS: BEDROOM
Winifred is still sleeping.
PHONE RINGS
Winifred wriggles and ignores.
PHONE RING STOPS AND RINGS AGAIN
Winifred struggles and picks the
phone.
WINIFRED
(sleepy
voice)
Hello—
(frowns)
INT. TINA’S
TINA
If you don’t get here this minute,
don’t ever speak to me again.
INT. MARTINS’
WINIFRED
(mumbles)
Oh Tina, I’m so fucking tired right
now.
INT. TINA’S
TINA
I’m serious Winnie.
INT. MARTINS’
WINIFRED
Tina please—
LINE DISCONNECTS
WINIFRED
Tina?
Winifred slams the phone on the
bed, hitting her fist on the bed in frustration. She struggles to sit up,
looking so tired and sleepy, frowning like she’s about to cry.
She picks her phone and dials.
EXT. TINA HOUSE – DAY
Vera and the ladies are checking
out the gifts in Vera’s trunk.
PHONE RINGS
Vera excuses herself.
VERA
Please excuse me, I’ve got a phone
call.
They almost don’t notice her as
they are busy checking out the gifts in Vera’s car.
Vera walks to a corner to receive.
Tina comes out and joins the ladies.
INT. THE MARTINS:BEDROOM
WINIFRED
Vera, what did you tell Tina?
EXT. TINA HOUSE
VERA
Nothing; just told her you’re
coming like you said.
INT. THE MARTINS
WINIFRED
(sad)
Oh no.
VERA(V.O)
What is it?
WINIFRED
You could have just told her I’m
not home or busy or something.
(babyishly)
She just commanded me to come now.
EXT. TINA HOUSE
VERA
Oh really? Well, I suggest you get
into your shoes then.
INT. THE MARTINS
WINIFRED
(grunts)
Ohhh okay.
EXT. TINA HOUSE
Vera laughs and disconnects. She
walks back to the ladies.
